Yes, I bought more…
October 26, 2006
Is there a support group for people who can’t stop buying books? I know I’m not alone in this addiction. It is so getting out of control. Help. Somebody. Save me. I’m binging without purging (get rid of some books? are you crazy?!), and now I’ve become a closet book-buyer. No, I don’t take my laptop into the closet so I can shop online in private (hmmm…), but I am starting to hide my purchases, pretend I haven’t bought any more (“that old thing? had it for ages”), and generally do anything I have to do to get away with bringing more books into the house. It’s bad, I know. So, a 12-step program, you think?

what happen to librarites?
i read your about page and it says you’re a young adult author, and ya is one of my favourite reading genres. haven’t seen your books before but will definitely keep on a lookout at libraries now.

Best Rx? Give those great volumes you keep collecting to special people in your life…then you could purge your shelves, encourage other people to become bibliophiles and feel good knowing that you did!
If your local library is suffering and in need of new books for their shelves – you may want to donate…but first, buy some really hip bookplates to commemorate your generosity!

It’s an inherited flaw! Blame it on genetics and enjoy the books guilt-free. I bought another new one yesterday, too (“Tenderfoot Trail: Greenhorns in the Cariboo”, O.S. Loggins). Some titles just beg to be snatched from the shelf, even if they have to be read in secret.
