A surprise on the beach
June 1, 2009
This morning I saw something unusual on the beach — a critter not often found in the intertidal zone:

Yup! A deer — a young buck, very much like the one in this not-taken-at-the-beach photo. I’ve no idea why he wandered down to the beach, but I sure hope he manages to find his way safely back across town to the forest.

I know! Our town is ocean on one side, forest on the other, so the crazy deer managed to wander all the way through town!

That must be an awesome sight. I’ve seen deers in my own backyard, but here’s Alberta. Guess you must bring a camera every time you head to the beach for you’ll never know what you’ll encounter.

It seems most the time I see something photo-worthy, I actually DON’T have my camera with me. Sigh. Oh well!

An unusual locale for deer, to be sure. I suppose he worked his way down from the forest through various tasty gardens but I can’t imagine what he’d be looking for on the beach unless he was into the salty seaweed for dessert.
