Darkness and light

This morning at dawn, I flew on an 18-seater from the Island to Vancouver on the mainland. It was dark when we walked out onto the tarmac to board, but a rosy glow was creeping up over the silhouetted mountain peaks. As I settled into my seat, I found a surprising amount of joy in anticipating the simple beauty of a sunrise.
As we made our way over the strait, I watched the changing sky. In the view from my side window, a tangerine streak blazed on the horizon, but when I looked out the front window to take in the pilot’s view, the sky was already light, with only a pale wash of peach remaining.
Darkness behind me. Light ahead. It seemed like a very good thing.

“Darkness behind me. Light ahead.” That strikes me as a good analogy for our progress in a lot of things! We need to stay focused on what’s ahead and move forward with confidence.
I’ll bet it was a beautiful flight (surely you have photos!?). I hope the next stretch provided equally lovely views and you’re having a wonderful visit.

Sadly, no photos. Left the camera at home so Son3 could take pics of school project he has to do while I’m away. But it’s in my memory, at least, and yes, the next stretch was lovely, too–so very many mountains in BC! It was hard to imagine we’d find anywhere to land, lol.

That’s a wonderful image and evokes hope. I’ve walked towards the beach during sunrise feeling the same way.
