Saturday Snapshot is a meme hosted by Alyce from At Home With Books.
On a recent walk, I discovered this cute painted rock sitting on a driftwood stump on the beach. It’s pretty hefty for a “pet rock” — maybe about 10″ long by 6″ high — so I could see it from quite a ways off. It made me smile. And I can think of no other reason someone would leave a simple, colourful, child-like bit of art on the beach other than to make people smile. So, mystery artist, mission accomplished!
This bit of found art got me thinking about leaving simple gifts for others as we journey through our days. A smile, a kindness, a listening ear, a compassionate word, a reassuring touch. Maybe even a little art on the beach. Such things nurture joy, hope, and healing, bringing a little more colour to a grey and weary world. Art at its finest.
Peace…

It made me smile too. Lovely picture and post.
Love the beach art…and the idea of leaving such whimsical bits around for others is a great one. Thanks for sharing.
Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
Very very cute; made me smile.
Ha! Made me smile too! Kind of like driving by the various snowmen and snow ladies that blossomed in yards and at intersections after this last snowstorm …love your thought on leaving random gifts for others to come upon … such a nice idea!
Yes, it makes me think, too. What can I leave in the world to make others smile?
Here’s my Saturday Snapshot.
Fun that someone left something for you to see. Now what will you leave? Here’s Mine
Cute!
I’ve appreciated your thought, leaving pleasant surprises for others to find. I’m amazed though that this rock was not picked up by anyone. This is good that people care enough to leave it there so others can enjoy.
What a nice idea. I need to think of something to leave for others.
THANKS for the wonderful idea and post.
Neat header…love the sand and the sandals especially since we have snow on the ground.

My Saturday Snapshot
That is fantastic! I want one for my garden. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/9qx5t
How great. The rock looks a bit like she is wearing a bathing cap. I wonder if the artist will ever know that their rock has hit the airways.
What a whimsical rock painting! A very fun find!
What a delightful find! It’s a little like the ‘pay it forward’ concept… doing something for someone else without expecting personal gain. Although on second thought, I’ll bet the artist gained a lot of pleasure just in the creation of this. Nice!
That’s adorable! I love finding fun things like that
Thanks for stopping by my Saturday Snapshot. That is our driveway!! It is 10 times wider than that little path. Not a fun job – thank goodness my husband did it.
