I had a little freak-out this week. It was justified. (If you’re a writer, you’ll be with me on this one.) See, I lost a file. Not just any file. I mean, there are a lot of files on my computer that I’d never miss if they vanished into the ether or cyberspace or the Twilight Zone, or wherever it is lost files go. And there are some I’d probably miss a bit, but oh well. Y’know? Yeah, it wasn’t either of those sorts of files…
This week, I LOST MY WIP, MY WORK IN PROGRESS, MY CURRENT MANUSCRIPT, THE BEST THING I’VE EVER WRITTEN (okay, that last part’s debatable). Yes, I had a backup. Yes, it’s gone, too. No, the tech guy couldn’t get them back. Yes, I freaked out a little. (Maybe a little more than a little.)
I’m blessed with lovely writer-friends who helped in the file search, understood my stress, commiserated, and gave virtual and real hugs, and I greatly appreciate all of it. This is a good community to be part of.
Today, I begin again. Onward!
FREE BONUS! A tip for you: backup your work. In two places. Maybe three. But don’t, like, get all obsessive about it or anything…I know I’m not going to. Heh. What a liar.
